Side Wall Explained

As seen on the image above, the sidewall of a tyre contains a set of numbers and letters, which represent the following tyre information;

1. 205 tyre width

2. 55 tyre profile

3. R indicates that it is a “Radial” tyre

4. 16 tyre diameter

5. 91 tyre load rating

6. W tyre speed rating

When choosing new tyres, we recommend using the same size as your current tyres. Note down the information and start your search on blackcircles.co.za using the three initial criteria:

1. Width

2. Profile

3. Diameter

Then, you can select the speed rating and the load rating for your vehicle’s tyres.
