What is Wheel Alignment and Balancing?

When should we combine alignment and balancing?

Wheel alignment and balancing have different purposes.

Wheel balancing is done to ensure that the weight of your tyre is entirely balanced and efficiently rotated without shaking while you are driving.

Wheel alignment is the process of ensuring that your wheels are set to the optimum position and prevents abnormal wear of your tyres.

When should I consider wheel balancing?

We recommend wheel balancing when installing new tyres or when heavy impacts may have caused a problem with your alignment.

Therefore, every tyre purchased with blackcircles.co.za and installed at one of our dealerships will be balanced as part of our global offer.

When should I consider wheel alignment?

If you suspect any of the following, you should consider asking one of dealerships to look at wheel alignment for you:

A tyre that is worn evenly on the outside is likely under inflation.

A tyre that is worn only down in the middle of the tyre is likely by over inflation.

But a tyre that is worn unevenly on a particular side is probably the resulting from poor wheel alignment. This may be the result of an impact on an uneven road surface or curb.

Our dealerships will be able to provide you with an estimate for wheel alignment.

When installing new tyres, do we need to do wheel alignment?

If you haven’t seen any of the problems mentioned above, you probably won’t require wheel alignment, but you may want to have your tyres checked to make sure nothing is wrong.
